Tattenhall is an ideal starting point for lots of routes, which include the ancient city of Chester, the Four-Counties Ring, the Cheshire Ring, the Llangollen Canal and the Shropshire Union Canal. Under the shadow of Beeston Castle and only a five hour cruise from historic Chester city centre, the Marina is ideally located to explore a vast selection of the canal network. Continuing on into Chester, with fantastic views of the walled city, Chester Zoo makes a great stopover for children and then on to Ellesmere Port, which joins the Manchester Ship Canal and is the home of the Boat Museum. It's well worth a visit.

Chester Zoo - With over 7000 animals to visit and to learn about a visit to Chester Zoo is an unique experience, hundreds of different types of plants reflect the natural habitats of some of the more exotic species.

Local to the marina is the award-winning Cheshire Ice Cream Farm, which sells a huge variety of ice cream including salted caramel and sticky toffee pudding, all of which are made on site. It also houses a great children’s play area for the kids.

You can experience the thrill of horse racing at Chester races.

Llangollen - Seeped in myth and legend the town is best known for hosting the International Musical Eisteddfod every July which brings in some 120,000 visitors and turns the town into a vibrant international stage. The town is a haven for shoppers looking for interesting and unusual gifts. Take a picnic up to the amazing horseshoes falls which is a pleasant stroll away these artificial falls are build on the River Dee. Take a ride on the Llangollen steam railway and view some of the country's most breathtaking scenery.

Directions to Chester

Address : Tattenhall Marina, Newton lane, Tattenhall, Chester. CH3 9NE

By Road : The Marina is just off Tattenhall Road. Heading north out of Tattenhall village, we are a 5-minute drive. Leaving Chester on the A41 Whitchurch Road due south-east, we are 25 minutes’ drive. Heading south along the A41 for 3.8 miles, you will take a left-hand turn on to Chester Road signposted for Tattenhall 2 ½ miles. The Ice Cream Farm and Canal Workshop are also signed posted here with the brown tourism sign.Heading down Chester road for 1 mile, turn left on to Newton Lane.Continue down Newton Lane for 1 mile. You will approach a crossroads. Head straight across these crossroads following signposts for the 'Ice Cream Farm'. Head down this road for 0.4 miles and the entrance to Tattenhall Marina is on your left, directly opposite the 'Ice Cream Farm'.

By Rail : The nearest railway station is Chester. From here, you will need to ride the41-bus to the marina. For information about train timetables and ticket costs for all mainline rail transport please go to www.thetrainline.com.

By Air : Liverpool John Lennon airport is the nearest airport to the marina. Car hire is available at the airport and it takes around 50 minutes to travel via car. Otherwise, taking the train to Chester from the airport and then the 41-bus is the best way of getting to the marina. If you are driving from the Airport, the fastest way to the Marina is via Chester. From Liverpool John Lennon Airport, take the A561 East-bound, joining the A562. Follow signage for the A533 and then the M56. Travel west-bound along the A56 and leave at junction 15 for the M53. The M53 will become the A55. Leave the A55 at junction 40 for the A41. We then advise you follow our road directions above.
