Cheshire is a county in North West England. The County town in Chester, with the renowned Chester Zoo close by and Chester Cathedral. It is mostly rural with a small number of towns and villages. Cheshire Cheese is produced here, and salt is also still mined here, although a lot of the salt mines have closed.
Monmouthshire is a county in south east Wales. The largest town is Abergavenny, of interest is Abergavenny museum and Priory Church , and Brecon Beacons National park to the north west of the County which attracts many visitors due to the range of outdoor activities the park offers.
Northamptonshire is a county in the East Midlands . The British Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone is here, also the Watford staircase locks and Stoke Bruerne Canal museum . Around the canal is fairly rural with just small towns and villages, although you can reach the County town of Northampton by canal.
Shropshire is a county in the West Midlands, bordering Wales. Very rural and sparsely populated with beautiful scenery of the Welsh mountains from the canal. About a quarter of the county is in a area of outstanding beauty.
Staffordshire is a county in the West Midlands, The Cannock Chase area of outstanding beauty is in the county, along with parts of the National Forest and Peak District. Shugborough Hall is open to the public, home of the Earl of Litchfield.
Stirlingshire is in Scotland and the County town of Stirling is home to the impressive Stirling Castle once home of the ancient Royal family of Scotland, and many battles took place in the County, William Wallace defeated an English army at Stirling Bridge Falkirk houses the iconic Falkirk Wheel next to the marina , a rotating wheel which lifts boats between the Forth and Clyde and Union canals.
Wiltshire is a county in South West England characterised by its high downland and wide valleys. Home of Stonehenge and the Avebury stone circles and Longleat which home of Lord Bath also the Safari Park based here.
Worcestershire is a county in the West Midlands, north of Bristol and south of Birmingham, home of the beautiful Malvern Hills, Worcester Cathedral and the Severn Valley railway home of many steam locomotives.
